Annual Disaster Preparedness Seminar

The Town of Longboat Key and the Longboat Key Chamber of Commerce 12th Annual Disaster Preparedness Seminar will be held on June 19, 2014 from 3:00 - 6:30 PM at 501 Bay Isles Road, Longboat Key.

The seminar is sponsored by Aqua Plumbing and Air.  Join State and local disaster experts to learn best practices on how to protect your family, home and property in the event of floods, hurricanes, or other weather-related disasters.  Topics related to pre-season preparedness, staying safe during severe weather, and tips to address post-storm issues and re-entry information will be addressed.

 

Bryan Koon, Director of Florida Division of Emergency Management will be the keynote speaker.  Other special guest presenters include: 

            Manatee County Emergency Management Chief Don Hermey

            Sarasota County Emergency Management Chief Ed McCrane

            Longboat Key Fire Chief Paul Dezzi

            Longboat Key Police Chief Pete Cumming

            Longboat Key Public Works Director Juan Florensa

            Other members of Town staff will also be on hand to answer questions.

 

Learn from the experts on how Florida, our County governments, and Longboat Key are prepared for the 2014 Hurricane Season and things you can do to ensure you weather the storms!

 

Following the seminar, complimentary appetizers from The Chart House and Harry’s Continental Kitchens and libations from Gold Coast Eagle will be served while attendees enjoy tabletop displays by local disaster recovery businesses.
