Assignment
Under the direction of the Accounting Manager/Budget Manager, performs miscellaneous administrative duties in support of the Finance Department, duties can change depending upon needs and priorities but generally includes administrative and clerical work, including assist accountants with federal, state and local grant projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Scanning and shredding documents
- Filing original documents
- Data entry (Microsoft Excel and select databases)
- Maintaining electronic records

May provide aid with federal, state and local grant projects
- Any other functions deemed essential by the Town and communicated to the volunteer by his/her supervisor or department head
Training & Supervision

Attends general volunteer orientation with Human Resources.
- Completes department orientation on the following items:
- Phone system
- Computer system
- Confidentiality
- Training and supervision conducted by: Accounting Manager or other Finance staff, as appropriate.
Time Commitment
Operating hours Monday - Friday 8AM – 5PM
Hours are flexible. Expectation is that this would be a part-time equivalent with regularly scheduled hours in order to utilize volunteer’s time most effectively.
Setting
Volunteer will work in the Finance office. Must be detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Skills or Qualifications
- Verbal and written communication
- Related experience in a Finance setting
- Computer competency
- Organization
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Considerable knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and simple mathematical knowledge.
- Considerable knowledge of general office and administrative procedures.
Screening
- Reference Checks and/or evaluation by former employers
- Background Investigation
- Drug Testing per the guidelines of Human Resources Policy
- Verification of education/certification credentials
- Driver’s License Checks – Volunteers are not to do the following:
- Drive Town vehicles or
- Operate Town heavy equipment
The Town is a Drug Free Workplace, in compliance with the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988, in § 440.102, FS and Rules 59A-24 F.A.C (Florida Administrative Code). State and federal laws and regulations may subject certain volunteers to additional drug testing requirements. Any volunteer who violates the program is subject to termination.
