Hurricane Milton Update, Recovery

  • DEBRIS REMOVAL: debris removal continues today on public roads
    • FDOT will provide additional debris cleanup services along Gulf of Mexico Drive
    • Only properties on Gulf of Mexico Drive are to use the state highway right-of-way for debris dumping – if you are found dumping along Gulf of Mexico Drive, you may be required to return debris to your property or face fines for illegal dumping
    • DO NOT PLACE DEBRIS NEAR A BACKFLOW, MASTER METER, FIRE HYDRANT, OR MAILBOX – any repair costs for damages assessed to these devices by the debris removal contractors will be the responsibility of the property owner
  • WATER/WASTEWATER: LOW WATER PRESSURE IS TO BE EXPECTED UNTIL FULL REPAIRS ARE DONE
    • POOL FILLS – we request that all wait to fill pools as the water pressure is still low
  • POWER: FPL estimates all power is restored now - if you continue to have issues, please contact 800-226-3545
  • WiFi: services available at Bayfront Park Tennis Courts and Town Hall
  • SALVATION ARMY: providing free hot meals at Bayfront Park (4052 Gulf of Mexico Drive), approximately 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., while the need remains on the island
  • WASHING FACILITIES: restrooms, showers, and laundry services are available at North Fire Station, 5490 Gulf of Mexico Drive
  • DRINKING WATER: pallets of drinking water are available at Bayfront Park (4052 Gulf of Mexico Drive, by restroom area) and Town Hall (501 Bay Isles Road) – please only take what you need
  • CYCLING ACTIVITIES: PLEASE REFRAIN from cycling on Gulf of Mexico Drive due to hazardous conditions of debris and sand
  • VOTING: to request a Vote By Mail/Absentee ballot contact the County Supervisor of elections (deadline to request is 10/24)

      • IF YOU PREVIOUSLY REQUESTED VOTE BY MAIL Ballot and did not receive, check with the local post office
  • CONTRACTOR FRAUD: please be aware of contractor scams – do not provide deposits and/or sign contracts until you have verified the contractor
    • report any knowledge of fraud to Police at 941-316-1201
    • report fraud to the Florida Office of the Attorney General’s Office at 866-966-7226
  • FEMA: in the area for assistance
    • Representatives carry official photo identification – please ask to see their form of ID
    • FEMA representatives will NEVER charge for services
    • FEMA inspectors will never collect your personal financial information
