The Town contracts with a Code Enforcement Special Magistrate to conduct hearings and adjudicate cases based on the evidence presented at the hearing. The Special Magistrate has statutory authority to hear code enforcement cases.  Florida Statute 162 outlines the legal procedures by which a special magistrate holds quasi-judicial code enforcement hearings and identifies their powers and duties.

The Special Magistrate hearings are held the second Monday of each month at 10:00 a.m, in the Town Commission Chambers located at Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road, Longboat Key, FL 34228.
