Notice is hereby given that the Longboat Key Town Commission will hold second readings and public hearings for Ordinance 2024-10, Ordinance 2024-11, and Ordinance 2024-12 on December 2, 2024, at 10:00 AM., or as soon thereafter as possible. The meeting will be held in the Town Commission Chamber, at Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road, Longboat Key, Florida.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LONGBOAT KEY, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR MARCH 11, 2025, AS THE GENERAL ELECTION DATE; PROVIDING FOR JANUARY 28, 2025, AS THE PRELIMINARY ELECTION DATE, IF REQUIRED; PROVIDING FOR BALLOT PRESENTATION; PROVIDING FOR ADVERTISING OF ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR EARLY VOTING; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LONGBOAT KEY, FLORIDA, PURSUANT TO ARTICLE I, SECTION 5, OF THE TOWN CHARTER ORDERING AND PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF A REFERENDUM ELECTION TO DETERMINE IF THE TOWN ELECTORS APPROVE A STATE REVOLVING FUND LOAN IN A PRINCIPAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $33,000,000, MATURING OVER A TERM NOT LONGER THAN 25 YEARS, TO BE SECURED BY AND PAYABLE FROM UTILITY SYSTEM REVENUES AND A BACKUP COVENANT TO BUDGET AND APPROPRIATE LEGALLY AVAILABLE NON-AD VALOREM REVENUES OF THE TOWN IN ORDER TO FINANCE THE COST OF DESIGNING, CONSTRUCTING, AND ACQUIRING CERTAIN CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS TO THE UTILITY SYSTEM INCLUDING A SUBAQUEOUS WASTEWATER FORCE MAIN ACROSS SARASOTA BAY TO TRANSMIT WASTEWATER FROM THE TOWN TO THE MANATEE COUNTY SOUTHWEST WATER RECLAMATION FACILITY ON THE MAINLAND; PROVIDING FOR A REFERENDUM TO BE HELD AT THE MARCH 11, 2025, GENERAL ELECTION, OR AS SOON THEREAFTER AS PRACTICABLE; ESTABLISHING TOWN INTENT TO REIMBURSE CAPITAL EXPENDITURES INCURRED WITH PROCEEDS OF SUCH STATE REVOLVING FUND LOAN; PROVIDING CERTAIN OTHER MATTERS IN CONNECTION THEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LONGBOAT KEY, FLORIDA, CALLING FOR TWO (2) REFERENDA QUESTIONS TO BE PLACED BEFORE THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE TOWN OF LONGBOAT KEY AT THE MARCH 11, 2025, GENERAL ELECTION; PROVIDING A CHARTER REFERENDUM QUESTION DETERMINING WHETHER ARTICLE II, SECTION 13, OF THE TOWN OF LONGBOAT KEY CHARTER ENTITLED “MEETINGS” SHOULD BE AMENDED TO ALLOW THE TOWN COMMISSION DISCRETION TO CANCEL THE REGULAR VOTING MEETING OF THE TOWN COMMISSION IN THE MONTH OF JULY; PROVIDING A CHARTER REFERENDUM QUESTION DETERMINING WHETHER ARTICLE III, SECTION 3, OF THE TOWN OF LONGBOAT KEY CHARTER SHOULD BE REVISED TO ALLOW FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A QUALIFIED INDIVIDUAL TO SERVE AS THE ACTING TOWN MANAGER IN THE EVENT OF THE TOWN MANAGER’S TEMPORARY UNAVAILABILITY OR INABILITY TO ACT; PROVIDING FOR THE FULL TEXT OF THE PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENTS; PROVIDING FOR A SPANISH LANGUAGE TRANSLATION OF THE CHARTER AMENDMENT REFERENDA QUESTIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE IF THE PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENTS ARE APPROVED; PROVIDING FOR THE FILING OF THE ORDINANCE WITH THE SARASOTA AND MANATEE COUNTY SUPERVISORS OF ELECTIONS; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION OF THE PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT TEXT; PROVIDING FOR THE FILING WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF STATE IF THE PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENTS ARE APPROVED; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION IF THE PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENTS ARE APPROVED; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Copies of the ordinances and related materials may be viewed prior to the public hearing at the Office of the Town Clerk, 501 Bay Isles Road, Monday through Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. No verbatim record by a certified court reporter is made of these proceedings. Accordingly, any person who may seek to appeal any decision involving the matters noticed herein will be responsible for making a verbatim record of the testimony and evidence at these proceedings upon which any appeal is to be based (see Section 286.0105, Fla. Stat.).
