The Public Works Department maintains the public rights-of-way (streets) within Longboat Key. Street resurfacing projects are budgeted on an as needed basis. Street cleaning, paint striping, and pothole repair are performed as needed on a periodic basis.

Gulf of Mexico Drive (State Road 789) is owned and maintained by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

Street lights on Longboat Key are maintained by Florida Power and Light (FPL). Residents can report an issue to the Public Works Department at (941) 316-1988.
