Voter Registration
The Florida Voter Registration Application Form is available in the Office of the Town Clerk at Town Hall. You can also register to vote online by going to Florida Online Voter Registration System.
The Florida Voter Registration Application Form can be used to:
- Register to vote in the State of Florida
- Change your political party
- Replace a defaced, lost or stolen Voter Identification Card
- Change your name or address
There is a portion on the back of your Voter Identification Card for you to change your address, if you move to an address within the same county. Because the Town of Longboat Key is situated in two counties (Manatee County and Sarasota County) if you relocate on Longboat Key from one county to the other within the Town, a new Registration Application Form must be completed and submitted to the appropriate Supervisor of Elections Office.
To Register to vote you must:
- be a citizen of the United States
- be a legal Florida resident
- be 18 years old (you may pre-register if you are 16 years old but cannot vote until you are 18 years old)
- not be a person who has been adjudicated mentally incapacitated with respect to voting in Florida or any other state, without having the right to vote restored
- not be a person convicted of a felony without having your right to vote restored
- not claim the right to vote in any other county or state
- provide your current and valid Florida driver's license number or Florida identification card number. If you do not have a current and valid Florida license or identification card, you must provide the last four digits of your Social Security number.
Registering is as simple as completing the application and mailing it or dropping it off to the Supervisor of Elections Office of the applicable County. Once registered, you are eligible to vote in all federal, state, county, and municipal elections. If you move from Florida, you must register in your new state of residency.
For additional information regarding voter registration, residents should contact the applicable Supervisor of Elections in your County.
