Howard N. Tipton Bio

Having spent more than four decades in Florida local government, Howard Tipton is now serving as Longboat Key’s 11^th Town Manager. Prior to this appointment, he served as the County Manager for Brevard and St. Lucie Counties, as a Deputy County Administrator for Orange County, Chief Administrative Officer for the Orange County Clerk of Courts, and Chief Operating Officer for Team Classic Golf Services in Orlando. During this time, he has led two different billion-dollar public agencies and earned the Florida Governor’s Sterling Award for Performance Excellence.

Howard has served on numerous professional boards and committees and has been recognized by the Florida City/County Management Association with several awards including the Dick Simmons Lifetime Achievement Award, the Golden Bell Award from the Mental Health Association of Central Florida, and by the University of Central Florida College of Health & Public Affairs with the Alumni Achievement Award.

Non-profit service includes United Way Board of Directors Board Chair & Campaign Chair in two counties - Brevard and St. Lucie, Chair of the Mental Health Association of Central Florida, Board Member of Goodwill Industries of Central Florida, and Allegany Franciscan Ministries Council for the Common Good.

Howard lives on Longboat Key and has been married to his wife Marion for 38 years. They have two grown children also in Florida.
